John Francis Fitzgerald, universally known as Honey Fitz, was a congressman and twice Mayor of Boston, and the maternal grandfather of President John F. Kennedy. Born in the North End of Boston in 1863 to Irish immigrant parents, he rose through the city's Democratic organisation, served in the Massachusetts Senate and the United States House of Representatives, and was elected mayor in 1905 and again in 1910. A famously gregarious campaigner and singer of "Sweet Adeline", he was the rival and eventual in-law of P. J. Kennedy. His daughter Rose married Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. in 1914. He lived to see his grandson elected to Congress in 1946.

Patrick J. Kennedy is an American politician and mental health advocate who represented Rhode Island in the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2011. The youngest child of Senator Edward M. Kennedy and Joan Bennett Kennedy, he was born in 1967 and elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives at twenty-one while still a student at Providence College. In Congress he was a lead author of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, which required insurers to cover mental health and addiction treatment on the same terms as physical illness. After leaving office he founded the Kennedy Forum and co-founded One Mind for Research, and co-wrote the book "A Common Struggle".

Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy was the matriarch of the Kennedy family, the daughter of Boston mayor John F. Fitzgerald and the mother of President John F. Kennedy. Born in Boston's North End in 1890, she was educated in convent schools in Boston, the Netherlands and Manhattanville, and acted as her father's hostess during his mayoralty before marrying Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. in 1914. She raised their nine children with strict Catholic discipline and a famous set of household record cards, campaigned for her sons in every election from 1946 onwards, and later published the bestselling memoir "Times to Remember". Made a papal countess in 1951, she lived to the age of 104, outliving four of her children.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is an American politician and author who served as Lieutenant Governor of Maryland from 1995 to 2003, the first woman to hold the office. The eldest child of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy, she was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, in 1951, graduated from Harvard and the University of New Mexico School of Law, and taught before entering public life. As lieutenant governor she led Maryland's crime prevention and juvenile justice work and created one of the first state requirements for student community service. She was the Democratic nominee for governor of Maryland in 2002 and has since worked on retirement security policy and written "Failing America's Faithful". She is a sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Rory Kennedy.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is an American lawyer and politician who became United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in 2025. The third child of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy, he was born in Washington in 1954 and educated at Harvard, the London School of Economics, the University of Virginia School of Law and Pace University, where he later taught environmental law. For decades he practised as an environmental lawyer, serving as chief prosecuting attorney for Riverkeeper and founding the Waterkeeper Alliance, and he wrote books including "Crimes Against Nature". He entered the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat and then as an independent before ending his campaign, and was subsequently nominated and confirmed to the federal cabinet. Bobby Shriver is an American lawyer, journalist and activist, and the eldest child of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver. Born in Chicago in 1954, he was educated at Yale and Yale Law School and worked as a reporter before turning to advocacy. With the musician Bono he co-founded the ONE Campaign and Product Red, which raised very large sums for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and he produced the "A Very Special Christmas" albums benefiting the Special Olympics. He served on the Santa Monica City Council from 2004 and as the city's mayor in 2010, campaigning on homelessness and veterans' housing. He is a nephew of President John F. Kennedy and a brother of Maria Shriver.

The Puranas also mention daughters, though they receive less detailed attention than his sons. ### Grandchildren and Legacy Krishna's grandson **Aniruddha**, son of Pradyumna and Rukmavati, became one of the most important heirs of the Yadava dynasty. His marriage to **Usha**, daughter of the powerful king Bana, is celebrated in Hindu mythology. Aniruddha's son **Vajra** survived the destruction of the Yadavas after the Mausala Parva. The Bachchan family is an Indian family of poets, film actors and industrialists, descended from the Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan of Allahabad and known above all for his elder son, the actor Amitabh Bachchan, whose own marriage and children have kept the family at the centre of Hindi cinema for more than half a century. ## Origins in Allahabad The family's documented line begins with Pratap Narayan Shrivastava, a Srivastava Kayastha from Babupatti in the Raniganj area of Pratapgarh district, in what is now Uttar Pradesh, who settled in Allahabad and worked in the city's paper trade. He and his wife Saraswati Devi had a son, Harivansh Rai, born in 1907. The boy was called "Bachchan" at home, a Hindi word meaning child, and he later took the nickname as his pen name. The House of Habsburg was one of the most powerful royal dynasties in European history, ruling Austria from 1282, supplying almost every Holy Roman Emperor between 1438 and the empire's dissolution in 1806, and reigning over Spain and its overseas empire from 1516 to 1700. The House of Medici was a Florentine banking family and political dynasty that rose from mercantile wealth in the late fourteenth century to dominate the Republic of Florence, produced two popes and two queens of France, and ruled as hereditary Grand Dukes of Tuscany for nearly two centuries before the direct male line died out in 1737. ## Origins The family's fortune began with Giovanni di Bicci de' Medici, who founded the Medici Bank around 1397 and built it into one of the most trusted financial institutions in Europe through close ties to the papacy. His son Cosimo de' Medici turned that wealth into political dominance of Florence without ever holding a formal princely title, ruling through alliance, patronage, and public opinion for three decades. Cosimo's descendants, especially his grandson Lorenzo de' Medici, known as Lorenzo the Magnificent, consolidated the family's grip on the city while becoming the era's foremost patrons of Renaissance art and humanist scholarship. ## Notable Members Lorenzo the Magnificent's sons included Giovanni, who became Pope Leo X, the first Medici pope, and whose cousin Giulio later reigned as Pope Clement VII.
