Nadia Comăneci Family Tree - Parents and Husband Bart Conner

Gheorghe Comăneci (1936-2012) was the father of Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci, the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 at the Olympic Games. An auto mechanic in Onești, in eastern Romania, he and his wife Ștefania-Alexandrina raised Nadia and her younger brother Adrian there. He watched his daughter rise from a local gymnastics school to become a national heroine at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where she won three gold medals at the age of 14. Gheorghe Comăneci died in Bucharest in January 2012, aged 76.

Nadia Elena Comăneci (born 12 November 1961, Onești, Romania) is a Romanian artistic gymnast and one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century. At the 1976 Montreal Olympics, aged 14, she became the first gymnast to score a perfect 10.0 at the Olympic Games, earning seven perfect scores and winning gold on the all-around, balance beam and uneven bars, silver with the team and bronze on floor. At Moscow 1980 she added gold on beam and floor and silver in the team and all-around events, for nine Olympic medals in all. The daughter of auto mechanic Gheorghe Comăneci, she defected from Communist Romania on 27 November 1989 and moved to the United States. She married American Olympic champion Bart Conner in Bucharest on 27 April 1996, and their son Dylan was born in 2006. The couple run the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Oklahoma.

Bart Conner (born 28 March 1958, Chicago, Illinois) is an American artistic gymnast, broadcaster and businessman, and the husband of Romanian gymnastics legend Nadia Comăneci. He won the parallel bars title at the 1979 World Championships, along with bronze medals with the team and on vault, and was an All-American at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1984. That summer, at the Los Angeles Olympics, he won two gold medals: with the United States men's team and on the parallel bars. He first met Nadia in 1976 and married her on 27 April 1996 in Bucharest, in a wedding televised live across Romania. Their son, Dylan Paul Conner, was born in Oklahoma City in 2006. Conner and Comăneci own and run the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Oklahoma.
